The Ex Convento Agustino San Mateo Apostol was built during the 16th century in the Altatlahucan municipality as one of the fundamental Augustinian structures. Part of the Route of the Convents, the Ex Convento Agustino San Mateo Apostol is a declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. With delimited atrium, temple, two level cloisters, porter and an open chapel, the building looks grand as ever, especially with the tall bell tower, bulrush façade and the Porfirian Clock. The interior of the convent features the single nave and a barrel vault while main altar boasts of containing the repainted Last Supper in main altarpiece. You will learn about the genealogy of the Augustinians from the fresco on the porter.
