Butterfly Creek - Review

A fun place for families to visit while in Auckland, Butterfly Creek is a zoo of sorts! Although, it is more than a zoo, it is an entertainment centre! Within the premises is an aquarium, a Dinosaur kingdom, a tropical butterfly house, a bugs exhibit, a buttermilk farm and the Butterfly Creek is also home to turtles, monkeys, crocodiles, alligators, birds and dragons. There is a little train that circles the complex and also a playground for the kids to play in. The kids will have an amazing time exploring and you can even sit back and relax.

Butterfly Creek, Auckland Reviews

  • Great fun for the kids. Reasonably priced. The keepers are very friendly and professional. A great day out for the family. Cafe food is decent too. Train ride is a little disappointing...But for $3 I guess you can't complain!

  • My son thought it was better then the zoo, he liked the farm animals. Its not as big as the zoo and less animals but a pretty good variety and we saw real crocodiles and alligators. I felt like a kid again seeing all the different types of butterflies. I paid $28+$3 for train ride. We were in a little group. The gift shop had $45 dinosaurs same size as my hands. Had to whisper to my sons that I can get these from the dollar store. But I liked it and my kids loved it.

  • This place is really cool! I have this incredible area with life-sized model dinosaurs and which is worth a look with you have kids or if you’re just a big kid! The petting zoo is lots of fun and the butterfly enclosure is a highlight too

  • My little one enjoyed her day out at butterfly creek. Amazing place even for adults. Lots to explore for the kids, my toddler enjoyed every bit of it and she was amazed by watching the Dinosaurs moving and making noises. It felt real! I loved the farm part, they have beautiful animals, birds, reptiles and they will tell you everything about them. Those who work there, kudos to you guys, you are amazing and friendly and welcoming humans. There is plenty of carpark too! Its just the price of the tickets I guess which is bit overpriced. I mean I will be thinking hard to visit second time.

  • We went for a 5 year old birthday party and it was fantastic. While waiting in the queue we got to pay this beautiful reptile. The park has a lot of animals to see, not only butterflies, as well as a petting zoo with very docile animals that you are allowed to pay. I also enjoyed the animal encounters with the sea lions and crocodiles
