The Holy Trinity Cathedral was built in the late 20th century in Neo-Gothic style. The Nave of the church (a contemporary addition), is designed by N.Z. Architect Professor Richard (Dick) and dedicated to the ‘the Holy Trinity’.
The highlight of the church remains in its architecture – especially the Glass doorsthat seem to be suspended due to its lack of visible support. The acoustics steal the show and if you can see a live performance here, do make it a point to visit the church.

Holy Trinity Cathedral Reviews & Ratings
A beautiful cathedral in Auckland. This was one of the stops on the 'hop on hop off' bus tour. We had a lovely walk around the Cathedral and viewed it from inside and out, it's a gorgeous and uniquely shaped building. The stained glass windows are stunning.
This is a complex Cathedral church. Three building joined together. Controversially. Concerts here are among the best church music events in Auckland but aren't widely advertised in city promotion material. The mix of old and new architecture is odd, just like an unplanned marriage. The newly built Selwyn chapel has a gold leaf ceiling that makes it an attractive function centre. The new Cathedral organ, substantially funded by Auckland ratepayers, is now considered the finest in NZ. The stained glass is the most ambitious 20th century glass art in any Auckland building but much compromised by the low roof on each side of the nave. The Cathedral would not give access to St Mary's when I visited. Why? Is this because St Mary's is a much more important building than the 20th century structure placed next to it after a hugely controversial shift from its original location across the street. We waited to get entry. Will the Cathedral know it's cool to provide access to Auckland's pre eminent Gothic timber building?
We stopped to visit while on the Hop on tour of Auckland. Unfortunately, the cathedral was closed due to a holiday, so could only view from the outside, but it did look very nice inside.
I've been here for quite a few concerts and it's a nice sounding space for orchestral and choir performances.
A Grand Catheadal and a good place for events.
