Oakwood Manor, Auckland Reviews
Overpriced - $169 per night - no way. Not worth it. Broken toilet seat. I would buy soap/handwash and toilet paper. Very frugal and have to ask everyday for more toilet paper. The small single beds need replacing, mattress is old and uncomfortable. Staff are EXCELLENT, I would stay here again because of locality to attractions around Auckland. 2 toilet papers per day, when we stayed Thursday and checked out Sunday. One hick up, left for the day and cleaners did a quarter of our room. No vacuum or beds made, did not top up amenities. I would get better cleaners, to be honest. Pool in picture looks bigger than it really is. The manager is EXCELLENT, he apologised for the cleaners half pie job. We'll be back, we know what to bring for next time. Thanks everyone, staff and reception. Tania, you are AMAZING and I can't say enough about the MANAGER - he is wonderful😊
Warning don't waste your money. Absolutely appalled at the service and the room. Greeted by a grumpy and rude shuttle driver. We were then subjected to dangerously erratic driving, tail gating, speeding and texting while driving. I was abused for being from Rotorua and threatened with being kicked out of the van to walk, by the disgustingly rude, argumentative and disrespectful driver for commenting to others in our party about his terrible and dangerous driving. We then arrived at the motel and we're appalled with the room and facilities. Pubic hair in an apparently cleaned to high standard toilet, broken tiles and handles, rotting bathroom walls, windows missing handles and unable to be locked and curtain rails that fell off when we tried to close the curtains. Will never be back, do not recommend and will be making a formal complaint to the company who booked us in here. If we weren't prepaid and had somewhere else to go at short notice we would have walked straight out.
Airport shuttle service was good. Room was old but clean. No place to eat nearby unless you have a car. Very small swimming pool.
Not a good place in the hight of summer no aircon, no through flow of air. The room did have as fan however, but not effective. Bathroom poorly planned and dated. Not even a soap holder in the shower. Hot water is freely available. Bed was very comfortable even though they still had the electric under blanket connected. Probably a good place in winter as there was a heater in the room. The kitchenette is basic. Kettle, 2 cups, 2 glasses, 2 teaspoons. Tea, coffee sugar and a fridge with little milk pods. Tv snd 2 easy chairs. That's basically it.
The only good thing about this "motor lodge" was the shuttle service to the airport. Our room was terrible with old cupboards that looked like they had been reclaimed from the dump. We suspect the room hadnt been purpose built as a bedrom but instead converted from a service room. There was no airconditioning , the bathroom had no towel rails and the lighting was ineffective in the bedroom. The advertised restaurant was no more than a deep frier so we were forced to go elsewhere for a meal. This hotel was not as advertised and we were very disappointed as so many other cheaper options that would have been better.
