Located in Georgia, this church is not only an addition to the other prominent landmarks in the city of Augusta, but also part of the culture and history of the city. It was built in 1898 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. Formerly a place of worship, the church went through renovation in the year 1987. Then converted into a modern structure with all the necessary facilities, today it stands as a cultural structure hosting events like wine festivals, choral concerts and christmas events. One of the most sought event conducted here is the annual garden festival, when the church is most vibrant. For all the artists and art lovers, the center also has an art gallery that exhibits different kinds of artwork.

  • Stopped by the Sacred Heart gift shop to buy an Arts in the Heart badge, then wound up staying to peruse the gift shop as well as the newly installed Women on Paper exhibit. Had a delightful time! Staff were friendly & knowledgeable. Gift shop was filled with eclectic mix of artsy items. Women on Paper exhibit was wonderful -- highlighting the considerable talents of a group of local professional artists. The exhibit is open to the public through October 31st. Catch it if you can.

  • Beautiful! Still feels scared! Love the altar! And the strained glass! Grounds were very nice too! Classic Southern! The gift shop was nice too! Very, very gracious people running it. I loved this place!

  • I recently attended a wedding at Sacred Heart and it was so beautiful. The sweeping arches and stained glass windows are breath taking even before you enter the huge santuary area. As you enter you will be amazed by the beautiful columns and richly painted interior. The reception and wedding were held in the same room so during the time after the ceremony but before the reception we were invited out to the lush courtyard. There were tables for drinks and amazing Southern style cocktail foods and drinks. Such a lovely piece of history and charm.

  • This place is absolutely beautiful. Pictures do not do it justice. The woman working the gift shop was very friendly, and the woman who showed me around was very friendly as well. Top of my list for my wedding venue next year

  • Pure elegance! It will take your breath away. I was a vendor at the Sacred Heart Garden Festival and this was the best experience ever. I was checked on by the many warm, cheerful volunteers. The festival itself was beautiful. Exquisite plants for sale and you can't miss the butterfly house. I understand that there is a lovely gift shop with lots of local themed merchandise. I intend to visit it soon!
