Aurangabad Caves - Review

The Aurangzeb Caves is a collection of 12 artificial caves in a stretch adjoining the Bibi Ka Maqbara. These are all Buddhist shrines made of soft basalt rock during the 6th and 7th centuries. These caves are divided into three groups according to the location. The sculptures and art of these caves is the peak of excellence in the field of classical art of India and can be compared to the grandeur of the gorgeous art in the Ajanta Caves.

The temples of the Aurangabad Caves are located on the Shiyachal Range. These are no less beautiful in comparison with the Ajanta and Ellora caves but somehow these have outshone the grandeur of the Aurangabad caves. Later in the 20th century, the archeologists spotted these and since then these are protected by the Archeological Survey of India.

The caves overlooking the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, are striking in every aspect, starting from their structures to their architecture, desihn and the interior art forms.

  • This place is a historic place. It shows the Culture and Beauty of Great Indian History. The caves are made in the stone. There are total TEN caves. This place is situated near the University Campus of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. One can visit Buddha Vihar there before arriving to caves. The maintaining authority for the caves is Central Government of India; which looks after the caves. The entrance fee is decided by the same authority. The fine view of nature abides one to love it. It is better place to visit with family or individually.

  • Very beautiful place people like to go there to see the carvings done on stone . It is not made of bricks. It has been carved by the workers . That time engineers were having mind full of ideas that's why the we're able to make so good designs without making any mistakes
