Australia is the only country in the world which occupies the entire continent. Also Known as ‘Down Under’ due to its location in the Southern Hemisphere, Australia is a multicultural melting pot. This vast land has a lot of diversity to offer in terms of its natural wonders. Vast arid lands, deserts, snow capped mountains, unbelievably beautiful coral reefs, national parks, golden sand beaches the country has it all. Home to the Kangaroos, Australia is one of the most unique countries in the world which has extremely prosperous metropolitan cities like Sydney and Melbourne along with vast lands which are almost uninhabited.
How to enter and explore:-
Air: - Being ‘Down Under’ this country is far away from any given place (Except New Zealand) and hence the most convenient way to reach here is by Air. Sydney is the largest international airport of the country and is connected to almost every other country. Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Cairns and Brisbane are the other international airports which have a good connectivity to the Asia Pacific region.
Road and Rail: - Australia is a vast country, most of its population is concentrated on its coastal cities where as the interiors remain very sparsely populated. Hence travelling by road can at times be very lonely and it might take some time before you find the next trace of civilization. The Highway 1 network of roads which circumnavigate the mainland is the longest national highway in the world. Surprisingly the railway system in Australia is not as well developed with respect to its size and economy. However it is one of the best ways to ‘explore’ the country sights.
Boat: - There is very limited intercity connectivity through boats. A few which exist connect the Islands of Tasmania, Kangaroo Islands others to the mainland.
Weather and when to be:-
Having a vast and diverse landscape, it is not surprising that the country climate is equally diverse. The northern part which is comparatively closer to the Equator is much warmer than the Southern part from where Antarctica is just a little far away. Being in the Southern hemisphere Australia experiences contrasting seasons with respect to the countries in North America, Eurasia and Northern Africa. Having such diversity it is possible to visit the country anytime of the year, just choose your destinations and type of tour wisely.
