Avanos Tourism

Return to the long lost time when you could spot a potter in almost every nook and corner by stepping into the land of pottery, Avanos. Avanos is a little town in the Cappadocia region. The town gets a handsome lot of red clay from the famous Red River traversing through Avanos. This river is the longest river of Turkey. Potters put together White Mountain mud and red clay to produce the reputed traditional pottery the city is recognized for.

Apart from the usual earthenware, Avanos is popular for its valleys, restaurants, magnificent views and a lot more. The city is home to plenty of ancient churches that were cut out of rock. As the city is not all that popular, you barely have tourists here. The month of May however is the city's peak season. The city makes for a perfect destination if you are planning a peaceful getaway from the daily routine and crowds.

Avanos is closely located with Goreme which adds to the fun of visiting the city. The Zelve valley, ruins and the fairy chimneys are along the Avanos - Goreme route. Even if Avanos is not part of your Turkey holiday destination, make sure you add it to your itinerary plan and pay the city a short visit from its neighboring cities in the Capaddocia region of Turkey.
