Located aptly between the Pismo beach and Margo Dodd Park is the fun Dinosaur Caves Park. If you’re travelling with your family and kids and wondering what exactly will excite your children, then Dinosaur Caves Park has it all. Play area, picnic tables, stunning view and the list goes on and on! The play area has dinosaurs, dinosaur eggs, seals and don’t worry, they aren’t for real. It is a pet friendly park and dogs are allowed only if they are on leash. Overall, perfect place to enjoy some gala time with your family.

Beautiful place to sit and look out over the waters and think. I have gone many many years to just sit watch the waters and feel the breeze. Very safe never have had any issues with people or animals. Would bring my son as he was growing up. We would do photos and sit on the benches and talk. There is a play area also. Very clean and they also have concerts and small fair type things along with farmers market at different times. Love it there!
Bathrooms were awesome. Great rest stop on the way down south. Has small but good trails to stretch your legs, and many viewing spots of the Pacific on cliffs.
Dinosaur caves is a delightful park with a large playground, clean toilets, and a bluff walk with 75+ foot cliffs that drop straight down to the ocean. Interpretive signs and a large grassy area that is often home to a variety of local festivals round this out to the best park in the Shell beach/Pismo area.
We stopped at this playground during a road trip. Our 4yo twins had so much fun that they spent the next two days asking to come back! The dinosaur eggs kids can climb in were a big hit. It's also right by the ocean, and there are gorgeous views. The landscaping is lovely as well.
Great for looking at scenery and enjoying views. Not much of a kids play ground other than jumping on some pinnipeds (look it up). Parking is fine, bathroom is a typical park bathroom so hold/plan ahead if possible, people bring there dogs here so there is not much open field if you want to toss a ball around. Seating is spaced throughout, but available. Overall, if you haven't been here it is worth the visit. Just keep in mind there are other options, like the beach... but if you need a kids park, Avila has a good beach park with playground, close to shopping and restaurants.
