Built in the year 1683 by English Royal African Company, this post served as an exchange point for trade of gold and slave between both the countries. The fort is also said to have been under a siege twice by a local ally of the Prussians, but it was built in such a way- that it was defended both the times. One of the most under rated attractions of Ghana, Fort Metal Cross is a reminder of the horrific times of slave trade that largely oppressed whole of Africa.
