Ella Rock is a cliff located near the town of Ella in Sri Lanka. Visitors wanting to visit Ella Rock must keep in mind that this trek is about 8 kilometres and is strenuous. Start your hike along the railways lines, passing through country-side tea plantations, where you can meet locals; follow the marked path and you will reach the top of the cliff and where you will witness a breath-taking view of the lush-green valley. The hike will take you around 4 to 5 hours depending on your speed and fitness level.

  • The journey would take you about 3 hours to reach the rock. This of coarse depends on the route you take. But when you finally reach there, the view is absolutely spectacular. Well worth the effort you put into reaching the rock. bring plenty of water cause you will be needing a lot.

  • It's a nice 1.5 hours hike from Ella town. The path can be a bit challenging but you can ask the locals and you can easily manage to do it on your own. Views are pretty great at the top and it's usually pretty windy, so don't forget to get a wind cheater with you.

  • A must do in Ella , took about an hour for us to get to the top from the railway tracks. Moderate at first and then straight up towards the end up a rocky terrain, saw people doing in barefoot/flip flops so any footwear could be worn. Have drinks at the top which is nice to have the option to drink out of a coconut at the top (plus it gives a great photo) hands down my favorite hike so far in Sri Lanka!

  • A nice walk along the tracks and through the tea plantations before getting up to more rocky ground. Good to wear trainers or hiking boots, not flip flops as it gets rocky and steep. Good views at the top. Start early and give yourself enough time to enjoy the top.

  • A very nice place near Ella town. You have to walk trough the foot pathway few kilometres to go to the view point. Sudden fog covers the all area for few minutes always and again it disappears because of the wind. Nice place for photographers and nature lovers. ** Leave nothing but footprints 🐶
