The Manor, Baguio Reviews
Nice rustic retreat. Have stayed here 12+ times. No loyalty program, long check ins and check outs, no air conditioning (can get hot), has bugs in rooms, short hot water supply, very loud in the daytime. Friendly staff and nice people. Beautiful scenery and amenities.
This hotel in Camp John Hay in Baguio is an attraction on its own. It's Baguio "away from the crowd." No matter how congested the traffic is outside and no matter how many people are there visiting the other tourist spots in the area, it's nice to be in this quiet hotel with less people and still feel the cold air of the Summer Capital of the Philippines. Also, it's best when you're able to book rooms facing the garden.
We are a couple who booked an overnight stay at a Deluxe Rm with Garden view. But when we checked in, we were upgraded to a 1 Bedroom suite Garden view for free. Maybe the front desk knew that it was our first time at The Manor. Our stay was almost perfect. The only downside was there was no A/C. But the ceiling fan was nice though.
We had the most horrible experience in this hotel. Upon check-in, the front desk/reception did not ask for our identification. There was no room available for us even though they confirmed our reservation. We arrived very early in time for breakfast and asked if we could check in early but we were told to come back. When we came back at 2pm, there was still no room available. The front desk then offered a free upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite which we dutifully declined as it was not the proper thing to do. But what was most appalling is that we realized that the front desk was given a free hand in assigning rooms to guests. In fact, they allowed 4 drivers to stay in a suite. We ended up staying in a 1 bedroom suite suited for 1 person even if we were booked in a suite for a husband and wife.
Ah, the true Baguio experience. A nice and relaxing place to spend Christmas season in PH. Amazing fireworks display, good food, and beautiful ambiance. A day here is a crime; 2 weeks is apt and enough to recharge you on your way back to the grind in Manila and Makati.
