Barong and Keris dance is an art form and basically a Balinese dance story that depicts the struggle between the good and the evil. In this dance form, good is personified by Barong Keket who is a fun-loving and strange creature and is in the shape of a semi-lion. The bad on the other hand is personified by Rangda who’s a witch and controls the spirits of darkness. Barong Keket is the lord of the forest and protects the Balinese village from the evil. Bali is famous for its dance forms and the Barong dance is one of the most exciting ones that draws you into it and you start feeling almost a part of it.

  • Great way to learn about Balinese culture. The instrument players were authentic and they played the the whole hour. The performance was entertaining but the story guide was helpful in explaining the legend. It was available in a variety of languages. The costumes, masks and dancing made a wonderful package. The seating is raised with many rows supporting chairs with backs. The upper rows had cement bench seating.

  • Great show. Wonderful people. Singing and dancing for the entire show. Thanks again to the Swaha Hotel for getting us to this experience. We missed our ride home and the performers stayed to help us out. A real community production that we will never forget.

  • It was very special to be in Bali during the Barong Festival. The dance represents the eternal struggle between good and evil, and the traditional music was very tranquil. The costume of the Barong was incredibly detailed. The kids loved the show, and I particularly enjoyed the music.

  • Excellent dance show! A little hard to follow the story but loved it just the same! Recommended to anyone visiting Bali for a true cultural experience.

  • The story line was very difficult to follow, but I enjoyed the costumes and dance. Comfortable seating , ticket price is affordable. Feel free to tip the dancers as they make peanuts.
