Now sitting as a wreck at the bottom of the sea at Tulamben, Bali, USAT Liberty or USS Liberty was once a United States Army cargo ship torpedoed by a Japanese submarine in 1942. The ship served in World War I as well as World War II but was eventually beached. The ship got moved off the beach due to a volcanic eruption in 1963 and today the shipwreck serves as a popular diving site. For the deep divers, the lowest point of the wreck is at a depth of about 30 meters off the coast. If you aren’t much of a deep diver, then you will find the highest point to be at about 5 meters depth.
