Ballarat is a city of four seasons and enjoys an oceanic climate. The summers are moderate but the temperatures can reach a hot 30.6°C, and the winters a cool low of 3.2°C.

 Because Ballarat can be extremely hot in the summer and equally cold in the winter months, most  travellers advise that you visit Ballarat in the Autumn or Spring seasons. Between September and November is the all round best time to travel to the city. Ballarat attracts about 2.2 million visitors a year with its heritage tourism industry, and attractions like the open air museum, Kryal Castle and Gold Museum are open through out the year.
