For history buffs travelling through Thailand, the Prasat Ban Phluang in the state of Surin is a must visit. An architectural and sculptural icon which is said to be dating back to the 11th century, the Prasat Ban Phluang is actually a dome or a stupa which appears to be incomplete owing to its unfinished top. The structure of the Prasat Ban Phluang is made of sandstone and is adorned with carvings of mythology. The most impressive carving is that of the God Indra riding his elephant which you can see at the entrance itself. There is also a pool in the premises of the Prasat by which you can relax.
