Sometimes spotting a tiger is a mere chance of luck and if you are looking to spot this beautiful yet wild beast, the Bandipur Tiger Safari is a perfect place to visit. Nestled in southern Indian state of Karnataka, the safari is spread across an 874-sq-km forested reserve and is known for its small population of tigers. Ideal for a visit with your friends and family, this tiger reserve is also a place of historical significance as it was once the private hunting ground of the Maharajas of Mysore. Apart from its tiger population, the park is home to Indian elephants, spotted deer, bison, antelopes and numerous other native species. Open all days of the week, the reserve can be best experienced from the 14th-century Himavad Gopalaswamy Temple’s highest peak.
