Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple was built in traditional Dravidian style of architecture. The temple is dedicated to Lord Rangaswamy who is the deity of Soliga tribe. The legend of the temple says that the Lord has two large sandals which he uses to tread the forest at night. The ancient festival for Lord Rangaswamy Temple is held in the month of ‘Vaishakh’ in April. Nearby is the 1000 foot drop to the forest below. The temple trust here offers basic accommodation facilities too. If you wish to trek your way up to the temple, you can do so by climbing 220 steps also. There’s exquisite viewpoints like the sunset point near the temple too. A special puja is performed for the deities on Friday.
- The place is replete with monkeys. Take care of your food and belongings.
- The forests have a whole lot of wildlife lurking. Watch your steps.

Mesmerizing place, well known for scenery around. Always plan to visit this place within 7AM. This place is best at 6 to 7 in the morning. Not at all a trekking place has motorable roads very well maintained. Don't forget about the check post at the foot hills no alcohol allowed be aware. No stopping on the way from check post to hill top. Cops will be patrolling.
Very singificant temple in one of the most beautiful environment. Simple and beautiful temple. In the middle of the forest surrounded by lush green reserve forest. You will enjoy the journey through the forest. You will have to pass the check post.
The temple on the top was undergoing renovation and will be opening in another 15 days as per the locals. The view from the top is beautiful. Vehicles can go all the way up to the temple or you just take the steps at the far end. Roads are good and entry only from 6.00am to 6.00 pm unless you have done any advance bookings for the lodges there. You can get supplies on your way up and also sighted puncture shops and loose petrol sold by locals. You can purchase the local honey here which is good and also hide eatables from monkeys. Best place to halt overnight is chamrajnagar and would recommend trying the k-gudi road.
Super place and amongst must visit places near Bangalore. Amidst some of the most beautiful awesome untouched nature and reserve. You travel amidst a reserve to reach this place. Note: Timings of the forest gate to reach this place is 6 AM to 6 PM. Please be early and leave on time to be able to make the best use of your trip. The drive after the forest gate is great and amidst a tiger reserve. Animals that can be spotted (if you are lucky) are elephant, deer, leopard, rabbits, wild pigs, etc. Atop the hill is a temple and some houses. You will not find everything you need. So please have your essential supplies handy. The views from the hill top are amazing. Nature at its very best. You can get some places to stay here for the night or some extended duration. Better to book in advance if you are visiting during peak travel/holiday seasons.
Had great fun riding to this place. Crowded weekend as usual.Difficult to find parking space for cars. From the reserve Forest entry point to all the way till Biligiri ranganathaswamy temple, the ride is so quiet and pleasant. From the top, it's all green. One can also see MM hills range covered nicely with clouds at the top. A must visit place for a bangalorean/biker.
