Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple - Review
Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple was built in traditional Dravidian style of architecture. The temple is dedicated to Lord Rangaswamy who is the deity of Soliga tribe. The legend of the temple says that the Lord has two large sandals which he uses to tread the forest at night. The ancient festival for Lord Rangaswamy Temple is held in the month of ‘Vaishakh’ in April. Nearby is the 1000 foot drop to the forest below. The temple trust here offers basic accommodation facilities too. If you wish to trek your way up to the temple, you can do so by climbing 220 steps also. There’s exquisite viewpoints like the sunset point near the temple too. A special puja is performed for the deities on Friday.

Biligiri Rangaswamy Temple, Bandipur Reviews
Super place and amongst must visit places near Bangalore. Amidst some of the most beautiful awesome untouched nature and reserve. You travel amidst a reserve to reach this place. Note: Timings of the forest gate to reach this place is 6 AM to 6 PM. Please be early and leave on time to be able to make the best use of your trip. The drive after the forest gate is great and amidst a tiger reserve. Animals that can be spotted (if you are lucky) are elephant, deer, leopard, rabbits, wild pigs, etc. Atop the hill is a temple and some houses. You will not find everything you need. So please have your essential supplies handy. The views from the hill top are amazing. Nature at its very best. You can get some places to stay here for the night or some extended duration. Better to book in advance if you are visiting during peak travel/holiday seasons.
Very nice place to visit around Bangalore. Easily accessible by bike or car. The condition of road is good. It goes through a jungle. You might spot one or two deers. Do not carry food items inside the temple because of monkies. All together it's a good half day trip. Right now renovation work is going.
Amazing place to be at. The temple is currently under renovation and not in much of a maintained state as per the holiness is considered, but it's a great drive up till the temple. You'll have to pay Rs.20 fee at entrance for vehicle. You can certainly have a great sunrise and sunset views from here and overlooking the BR hills.
Beautiful temple. Currently under renovation. Swamy is shifted to a temporary place right next to temple. View from the temple is spectacular. There are 2 ways to the temple, you can climb the stairs (175 approx) or you can come in a car thru the side entrance. Steps not recommended if you are physically down. It will drain you out. But if you love adventures you can climb. It was fun.
The temple is not that much big as one may expect. The valley view is good. And the weather is awesome. A best place to weekend getaway. The temple will serve lunch on all weekend and the hill timing is 8am to 5pm. It is best to be at the gate half an hour before the gate opening and reach there as soon as you can to have a good and peaceful time. From Bangalore you can go via maddur or Kanakapura. The traveling from Bangalore is more and it's kind of no other places nearby to visit. You can visit bluff and talakadu on the way back (but you will not even get place for parking in these places on Sundays). The nearest good place like this kind is male mahadeshwara hills. If you have not visited this place, its definitely a go and you will enjoy it.
