Bow Falls - Review

One of the best things about the Bow River is its accessibility. A popular tourist attraction, the Bow Falls are one of the most loved natural attractions of the Banff National Park. Unlike the conventional waterfalls, the water doesn’t cascade from a great height; the Bow Falls are wide and short, powerful all the same! During the summer, if you’re positioned correctly, you’ll see the mist rise and might also be caught in the spray that comes along with it.

  • Visit here again after 20 years. Last time we joined a tour. This time we drive by ourselves. Easy to find a parking spot. And have much freedom and time to enjoy the spectacular Bow Falls scene from different angles. It's so nice to see the roaring turbulent water with beautiful rainbow color on the mists, with stunning mountain view as the backdrop from this great view point!

  • Nice easy walk trail that leads you back to the main area in Banff centre. Great views! Parking can be crowded at times, so just be aware. There are a few areas to just sit and enjoy a picnic as long as you have your own portable tables and chairs. Across the main area there is a tiny spot that has golden sand beach but you have to be there very early to secure the spot. Definitely coming back to do that!

  • Beautiful spot to see the Bow Falls here. In the summer there are a lot of tourists but sometimes you can also spot a RCMP in full gear. Sometimes you can see people rafting and riding horses through the water and trails. Decent amount of free parking but it gets busy in peak season.

  • Gorgeous view point of those raging falls. they're not high but boy a lot of water coming. Nice trail from view point ti the bridge crossing. About 1 km

  • Whether visiting in the summer or winter, there is something majestic in viewing the falls. Summertime enables one to appreciate the awesome power of the current while wintertime provides the option on walking on the ice, with the Bow River beneath you.
