About Bow Falls, Banff

One of the best things about the Bow River is its accessibility. A popular tourist attraction, the Bow Falls are one of the most loved natural attractions of the Banff National Park. Unlike the conventional waterfalls, the water doesn’t cascade from a great height; the Bow Falls are wide and short, powerful all the same! During the summer, if you’re positioned correctly, you’ll see the mist rise and might also be caught in the spray that comes along with it.

  • Great waterfall hidden beneath the beautiful town. Great views all around lots of area to walk around with kids or wheelchairs. Is there anything this town doesn’t have?

  • Amazing views of mountains, bow river and bow falls. Great place to bring kids and walk around and just in a walking distance from the town.

  • The fall is really beautiful but the rest of the river is awesome. Not place more beautiful on the planet! (Personal opinion, of course)

  • The main plus of this attraction is that it is easily accessible within the town of Banff. It is a beautiful place with great views, not just of the falls, but of the surrounding river and mountain vistas as well. It has a pretty large parking lot. I did not find any washrooms though. There were people with boats on the shore plus it looks like some trails by the riverside so more time could definitely be spent in the area. Visited May 2016

  • Amazing spot. Very busy, but still easily navigable with a 4 year old. Easy walk up the stairs to see the different falls. Also a great spot to dip your feet in the river.
