Great Trail to do with the family! took us almost 2 hours because of our 7 year old complaining from bottom to the top but it took us only 30 minutes to get back down. The trail is very clear and most of all safe to do. Would love to go back and hike up again. THE VIEW IS A MUST SEE AND VERY BREATH TAKING. BANFF YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL
Fantastic hike. Kids friendly. Can be very crowded at times. Breathtaking views west and south while on the trail. At the top gorgeous views in every direction. The top towards east side is very steep. Keep your kids close. Worth of drive any time of year
Tunnel Mountain is a short and scenic 4 km hike to an amazing viewpoint on top of the mountain overlooking the town of Banff and surrounding scenery. I visited in August 2017. The trail began from Tunnel Mountain Drive in Banff. It followed along long, nicely graded switchbacks along the side of the mountain through the forest. Some of the switchbacks were steeper than others and some of them leveled out which provided a chance to catch your breath. There were some glimpses of the views along the way through the trees. The best views could be seen from the top of the mountain at the end of the trail. There were some bare rocks surrounded by forest which were perfect places to sit and admire the views overlooking Banff and the surrounding mountains and valleys. It was beautiful! Would recommend this short hike for a good leg workout and opportunity to see great views.
A great hiking trail. It is a little rough getting up to the top but just take your time! It took us about an hour to get up to the top. The scenery is beautiful. Bring a picnic lunch - wonderful to eat and look at downtown Banff. There are quite a few people who do this trail but it never felt crowded.
Great short hike for a wonderful view of banff.
