About Ad Lib, Bangkok

Ad libitum () is Latin for "at one's pleasure" or "as you desire"; it is often shortened to "ad lib" (as an adjective or adverb) or "ad-lib" (as a verb or noun). The roughly synonymous phrase a bene placito ("in accordance with [one's] good pleasure") is less common but, in its Italian form a piacere, entered the musical lingua franca (see below). The phrase "at liberty" is often associated mnemonically (because of the alliteration of the lib- syllable), although it is not the translation (there is no cognation between libitum and liber). Libido is the etymologically closer cognate known in English.

  • Staff always patient and polite. Hotel amenities are well maintained. Very cozy. Best thing is, the wall sockets in the rooms are built with universal plugs. You don't have to worry about bringing your own.

  • I stayed here last week, on Aug 23th. I left some of my luggage at the lobby and I noticed that when I was at the airport for departure. So I called to the hotel and they said if I send my adress to them through e-mail, they'll send it to me. But , eventhough I e-mailed the twice, they never answer it untill now..... I think they stolen my luggage!! Im really dissapointed about their survice, and want to tell everyone who will stay at this hotel that you should not trust the manager of the hotel. And you have to look after you luggage!!

  • Really beautiful and centrally located place. Very friendly staff and a 24 hour bar which makes the place all the more liveable. A must!

  • If you are looking for well-designed boutique hotel Bangkok, this is the one! Amazing design, lots of greeneries and very cozy. Would definetely come back!

  • A truly wonderful hotel! Tucked back in a quiet alley behind a willow tree this is lovely place to stay. Its chic and modern but very comfortable. The central location and proximity to the BTS makes it very convenient for getting around Bangkok. From every aspect this is a great hotel. The food and cocktails are delicious, as is the breakfast. I loved the salt water pool on the roof after a hot day of exploring Bangkok. The staff is truly truly wonderful!! They were so nice and welcoming. My wife's bag had been lost by the airline coming back from the beach. When we got to the hotel and told them the situation they were so helpful. They dealt with the airline for us and got her bag delivered to the hotel by the next day. I really can't say enough nice things about this hotel. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are back in Bangkok.
