Gaggan Bangkok, Bangkok Reviews
If the price isn't an issue (as it now costs more than the top fine dining in countries like Japan and Australia, and is on par with those in USA), Gaggan remains a must do. Flavours and techniques keep you engaged. The meal currently consists of 25 small dishes served over 2-2.5 hours. We had the pleasure of being seated in the lab which made it a more social experience. The variation in flavours over short periods of time (as each dish is a mouthful) makes the wine pairing feel out of place. Each wine is served for 2-4 courses so rarely feels perfect for a dish. I'd recommend trying some of the cocktails or opting for a single bottle instead. If you have any interest in gastronomic dining then you must visit Gaggan. Just be prepared to pay more than you'd ever imagine for a meal in Thailand (think $10 for a bottle of water, and $900+ for dinner for two). Of course, compared to your home country, this is probably reasonable so use that as justification for the experience.
Indian fusion, this experience was good but that is all it was just good. With the price tag of 6500++ baht I expected a wow factor in at least 1 dish and this I did not get, flavors are at times yum but somewhat subtle and lacking in some areas at the same time. I have been to one of the best in Sydney & Bali these are by far ahead in both flavor and creativity, at just the third of the price. Was it worth it yes, am I wowed no. Would I go again probably not, will wait till he goes too Japan hopefully gives him more inspiration.
We had a great time here. The staff took wonderful care of us. And the 25 bites of food was fun, shocking and innovative. What a great dining experience. It was one of those theatrical experiences that I will remember rest of my life. They deserve every award they have received.
If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. My husband and I went for our honeymoon. I am allergic to shellfish and gluten and had reached out to the restaurant on several occasions prior and was assured they could accommodate these allergies. There were several shellfish items on the menu for which an incredibly subpar item was substituted. In one instance they just omitted a prawn from the dish without substitute. We spoke to a manager early on in our meal about this and they insisted that this meal was up to standards. I then got locked in the bathroom (which was dirty) for 5 minutes and had to pounce on the door for someone to notice and help pry the door open. We again spoke to the manager and received no apology. The servers were extremely rude to the point that we decided not to continue our meal. I left in tears and management would not properly adjust the bill for the items that we did not get and insisted that we still pay the 10% service charge. My husband and I have been to several Michelin starred restaurants in multiple countries and have never had such an incredibly awful experience - especially on a special occasion. Do not waste your time or your money.
The most expensive dinner I’ve ever had in my life and the worst food I’ve had anywhere in the world!!!!! This is not an Indian restaurant. It’s a fraud. The guy should be ashamed to call this Indian food. We left with 6 courses still to go and they didn’t even give a proper discount for it. £175 for dinner where you have to go for a pizza after! Never again....... DO NOT GO HERE! Be warned!
