Gaggan is an awesome experience stimulating your different senses: taste, smell, see and even listen to the storytelling of each of the 25 courses. This time we had the chance to eat at the lab which brings a special atmosphere as you are seeing some of the courses being prepared in front of you. My only suggestion would be to propose a half or quarter of glass of a selected wine for each of the course. And don't forget to hug the staff when you are leaving 😉
I've gone to Gaggan once a year, every year, since it's opened. The food has gotten more creative and theatrical as the years have gone by and the service more Michelin star-like. If you're a fan of world-class creativity then you owe it to yourself to try this place.
Celebrated our first anniversary here! Enjoyed the overall meal and the interesting emoticon menu. Liked 90% of the dishes we were served. Staff was good. However, in spite of knowing we are vegetarians they placed the non veg menu on our table and then later changed it. Water is charged additionally. It's of course a very expensive meal but one can come here to enjoy the uniqueness as well as celebrate special occasions. Just felt that they were aware of our first anniversary but did not do anything special. Whereas next table, a gentleman was celebrating his birthday and they got him a special cake and sang along.
What an absolute experience coming here. We (party of three) came here having high expectations, having watched Chef's Table and also seeing the rankings (ranked best in Asia in 2017). I'm happy to say that Gaggan exceeded all of our expectations. Each course had a very interesting taste, with the taste being very different than initial expectations. The taste of each course will evolve as you chew through the food. While I didn't like every course, I still think it gave my tastebuds an adventure that they won't experience anywhere else. The presentation of each dish was outstanding (got lots of great pics for the memories) and the emoticon menu was a great source of dinner conversation as we tried to guess what they could represent. Furthermore, it prevented us from creating any expectations for each specific dish, which allowed us to be really surprised. From reading other reviews, I initially had concerns that I would still be hungry after the meal. I think it's safe to say that even the person with the largest appetite in our group was absolutely stuffed. We booked about a month in advance, so keep that in mind when making a reservation.
Impressive dining experience. Great service and we even did a tour inside the kitchen. Worth a try.
