Gaggan Bangkok, Bangkok Reviews

  • Best restaurant in Asia indeed. Being from Pakistan and understanding the flavours, it was amazing to see what Gaggan was able to do with traditional Indian dishes. The flavours were familiar but the way it was done was mind boggling and really cool. Also, since we don't drink it was nice to see them have a selection of non-alcoholic cocktails. The ones we chose were amazing and presented in a whimsical manner. Get the coconut lassi and you will not be disappointed. The food was really good but some of the dishes were better/ more memorable than the rest for different reasons which is to he expected with 25 courses. Service was impeccable as to be expected. Menu was cool. Gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the price (came out to $250 CAD per person with service charge and tip and drinks which isn't bad but obviously not the most accessible place) and their desserts weren't as good as the mains which was kind of odd.

  • Gaggan was probably my favorite dining experience of my life. This is not even close to the first highly rated restaurant I have been lucky enough to dine at and it will stand out for many reasons. We were seated for over 3 hours for a 25 course tasting and it felt like an hour. We did the paired wines and it was an amazing match with some very unique and interesting wine choices from all over Europe. I am not going to go into details about the courses and flavours as being there and experiencing the journey is part of dining here. There were a couple of dishes were I didn't think the execution was perfect but it didn't take away from the overall experience. If you like a menu full of unique flavours and playful presentation then Gaggan should be on your list. If you want tight French service and food, this is not that.

  • We have eaten at some wonderful restaurants around the world and this is in our top 5. Went to lunch today and it was really that good. Take the wine pairings and you are in for a journey. Staff were professional and lots of fun. This is the future of food and we look forward to seeing what he does in Japan. Well done.

  • Given the stellar reputation of this establishment I was a little underwhelmed which disappointed me slightly. You really feel like just a number as they churn through the dishes like clockwork, sticking to a schedule so we can be out in time for the next sitting. So if you're after a leisurely, romantic venue I would save this restaurant for another time. Nevertheless the inventiveness of the food did wow us as expected and it was a once in a lifetime treat. The hip pocket definitely suffered after a visit here, so come prepared to blow some cash. I would have given 4/5 stars if the website allowed.

  • The hype is real. This is the best meal I've ever had--better than even Noma. The food isn't just amazing to view and to taste, but is also playful in ways fine dining is often not. The experience we had was made even better by sitting at the chef's table. This place is a must for any foodie to visit before it goes away for good in 2020.
