Golden Buddha, Bangkok Reviews

  • Magnificent and beautiful golden Buddha in the shrine. Admission fee for viewing the statue only costs 40 bahts. Do remember to take off your shoes before entering the shrine, and video taping is not allowed

  • This temple has levels and the top level of the temple houses the main sanctum of buddha. Here buddha is in the sitting posture. We can see many priests all around the temple which makes this temple a popular among the locals. A little walk from the main road along a side road takes us to the temple. Since the temple is a high raised one we do get a good stunning view of the city too from the top level. The decorations inside and outside the temple is so beautiful that one has to spend quiet a little more time to admire the whole lot. We have to climb some steps to reach the top but this temple do have an elevator which takes us up. Its better to visit this temple before 11am or 12 as the hot sun makes the plight up the steps uncomfortable . Other then that I would say this temple is a must see attraction of the city.

  • Beautiful architecture and design of the temple. Also the statue is said to be made of gold which was only discovered about 60 years or so back and had been covered in stucco or plaster for about 200 years. It was first found lying in the beach is what I was told by the local guide after which it was picked up and placed in a small temple. They discovered that it was good only when they were shifting it for renovations of the same temple. The local tourist shops have reasonable pricing and have some really beautiful things to pick and choose from and of course the shop keepers are extremely polite, so that's a plus as well. It's located almost in the busy part of the city. And I recommend this place to see the beauty and the view from the top of the temple.

  • People come here and pay 40 Baht to see the large golden Buddha. Personally I don't think it's worth the visit solely to come here. The Buddha is awesome for sure, but unless you're on your way to/from Chinatown or Wat Pho I wouldn't bother. Of course if you are on your way to those areas it's surely worth a pop in. It's also super close to the final MRT station.

  • The great golden Buddha is here. Many foreigners and tourists are presenting their worship and pay respect. Welcome to see and learn the ancient history.
