  • Not one of the greatest meals I've had but pretty good. Excellent wine list (although most bottles 60 euro+), brilliant service and great atmosphere. No menus rather your order from a bunch of verbally recounted 'dishes of the day' which I understand nearly always includes house classics. Booking mandatory. We paid 75 euro a head inc wine but I imagine you can pay less and certainly more!

  • We were lucky and only had a 10 minute wait. If we had turned up a few minutes later the queue was out the door, but still would have been worth the wait. The food was excellent and was priced as I would expect for food of this quality. The waiting staff were brilliant and really had a lot of fun with each other and the the customers. The best meal I had in Barcelona.

  • One of those "must visit" places I tend to avoid wherever I go as they rarely live up to the expectations. Cal Pep was a pleasant surprise, food was truly great. The only time I was there was unfortunately already in June (I tend to mention this: I'm in love with Barcelona, I usually manage to visit at least twice a year and spend at least two weeks, preferably a month. I do, however, avoid late spring, summer and early autumn - I can fully understand current mayor's efforts to reduce the number of tourists - we might be helping the local economy a lot, still, we disrupt the life of permanent citizens and squeeze them out of their own city. This is a complex issue, of course and does not belong in a restaurant review - sorry). I agree with other reviews here, nothing to add. Great food, not overpriced - the fact that one usually has to wait to be seated would be a deal breaker for me - I'd give 5 stars otherwise - still, the fact that we enjoyed our visit and liked the place is worth the four.

  • A Barcelona classic. Simple, well-prepared dishes, mostly seafood, based on perfect ingredients. Friendly atmosphere. Most seats are at the counter, and there's usually a wait. Don't be deceived by the simple environment... prices can add up, but it's worth it.

  • A little more expensive than most but you get great service and excellent food. Some of the best in Barcelona. I recommend sitting at the bar where you can enjoy the antics of the chefs and waiters but be prepared to wait for a place.
