Landscaped by architect Josep Fontseré for the world fair and spread over 70 acres, this green lung of Barcelona sits on a military citadel built by Philip V. The remainders of the exhibition like the building of Castell dels Tres Dragons, the restaurant, the lake and waterfall are still visible.
The plant house, the umbracle and the glass house are particularly notable and the stunning sculpture of "El desconsol" (Distress) is one of the finest specimens in the park.
Don’t miss out the mammoth and the bandstand on your visit. The park is ideal for picnics, bike rides and leisurely walks.

Ciutadella Park, Barcelona Reviews - Write a Review
I visited it with small children and I only felt lack of playgrounds with capping for the least. Besides, the Parc is too beautiful: very ample, with space for fairs and events, children playing, lake with boats, bandstand where I could rehearse rumba steps along with a lot of people who had fun in the place. The main monument is lush and perfect for beautiful photos. Highly recommended.
Loved it. Wonderful fountain / statues, lovely mini lake with boating, so good to walk around. Such a great feel to it. Barcelona zoo is at the end of the park - I didn't have time to go in but I would like to see it.
Amazing place. There are so many people.. You can go there just for relax, for a picnic, for a walk! You can see so many things! There is also a zoo. I don't want to spoiler you more, just go and enjoy it!
The park is a must-visit place, great to hang. Lots of people having picnic, listening to music, playing games and doing sports. The zoo is there for some family fun, the parliament, there are ponds and monuments.
This park use to be inside/part of a fort during the War of the Spanish Succession in 1714. Today many artist, performing artists come to the park to entertrain visitors. The fountain is pretty amazing with the golden chariot on top, you can imagine what it was like in the glory days, but today water doesn’t run thru and the weed have filed some of the areas. Within Barcelona this would not be a must visit if I didn’t have the time.
