As the name suggests, the Museu del Modernisme is dedicated to the modern art as it organises exhibitions on different themes around artists and their works. Through this museum, the visitors can get fresh and interesting perspectives on art and Catalan heritage along with the cultural landmarks. Most of the collection that graces this museum can be attributed to the two Barcelona antique dealers, Fernando Pinós and María Guirao. The collection on display here includes 350 works by 42 of the most representative modernista artists, including Joan Busquets, Ramón Casas, Antoni Gaudí, Gaspar Homar, JosepLlimona, Joaquim Mir and Puigi Cadafalch, pertaining to their different genres of art such as painting, sculpture, furniture and the decorative arts.

As for the building in which this museum is housed, it is a centrally located modernista building designed by the architect Enric Sagnier. The top floor of the Museuhouses the furniture and decorative arts along with a room which is especially dedicated to Antoni Gaudi. The ground floor on the other hand, displays paintings, sculptures and stained glass. A visit to this museum will definitely enrich your understanding on modern art.
