The castle is beautiful and when the fountains come on it is a lovely view. As you could probably imagine it is full of tourists so crowds can be quite large. And the walk up to the castle is full of 'lucky lucky men' selling various different trinkets and memorabilia. On a Friday when I went the fountain 'show' was on 21:30-22:30. Just after sunset so was very nice to watch but I believe it's start different times for each month of the year but easy to Google and find out what time is best for when you plan to visit. Metro stops at the bottom of the walk up to the castle and around there is bars and restaurants offering well priced food with wonderful views, so is very easy to get to and offers more than just the 'show' if you were interested in some food or drinks before having a stroll up to the main castle.
Went here on a Wednesday night during summer for the 9.30pm show. At first, I wasn't sure if it'd be too touristy or more for kids. Upon settling in to a spot near the escalators that cross over the road, we soon understood the magic so to speak. The colors, structure and variety of the fountain is mesmerizing. After about 15 minutes though, we had seen enough and left before the crowds. I wouldn't go again but glad we did it during our first trip to Barcelona.
Beautiful fountain with the royal palace as a backdrop. The fountain only has shows certain nights of the week so check the schedule before going. Get their early if you want to get close because in the high times of the summer the palace is packed! Really neat atmosphere during July and August in the evenings.
Fantastic free entertainment. Starts at 9:30 pm and lasts roughly one hour with different sets of music being played every 10-15 minutes. A must see spectacle if you find yourself with a free evening! You should also try and get there at least 30 minutes early in order to get yourself a good spot with an unobstructed view of the fountain as it gets busy very quickly!
Fantastic show. Free event for all the family. Music accompany the fountain throughout the show. Toilets onside. Gets busy early so get here in advance to get a good view. Be careful where you decide to sit..... You could get wet!!!
