There’s something in the soil of Switzerland; the country has produced some stunningly talented people one after the other. One such gem is Jean Tinguely, a world renowned sculptor. He was known for making sculptures with mundane articles and turning them into absolute joys to view. Be careful not to touch any of the mechanical pieces of art as they could topple at the touch.

The four floor museum not only provides an insight into the artist’s creative evolution but also showcases Jean Tinguely’s journey through Europe and the United States by way of sketches. Don’t forget to check out the mechanical sculptures doing their magic as they are activated every five minutes.

Museum Tinguely, Basel Reviews - Write a Review

  • A fascinating museum/art gallery. Tinguely's moving art is unique and mesmerizing. The only downside is that once a piece of art is activated, it takes about 4 minutes to reset, so the waiting can be difficult for kids.

  • Loved this museum. Not typical even for a modern art museum. We spent about an hour there, the guide was very knowledgeable regarding the artist and each of the art works.

  • Very nice place to visit, excellent art work. Small museum so you don't take too much time to see everything. A bit expensive but nothing too high

  • This is a good place for historicl views.

  • A must for anyone interested in modern art and visiting Basel.
