Imagine a museum full of toys! Not only is it guaranteed fun for the kids, but even the adults will relive their childhood with the sheer variety of toys on display here. The SpielzeugWelten Museum Basel is the biggest museum of its kind in Europe. Attracting doll admirers and teddy bear lovers from all over the world, spans four floors with over 6000 toys on display.
The manner in which the toys are displayed don’t follow a particular pattern. Toys are loved best when left to your imagination and this creativity is exactly what the museum has tapped into. The toys are simply placed creatively in individual settings. On every floor, there are interactive displays which tell you how the teddy bears and made, how old each toy on that floor is and where it’s been manufactured.
With the largest collection of teddy bears that can be found under one roof, it’s difficult to stay away from the SpielzeugWelten Museum Basel.

Spielzeug Welten Museum Basel Reviews & Ratings
Really, nice place for older children. Youngest one will get bored. Be aware that you can't leave the building and came back on the same ticket. In the UK in the most of the cases you can easily leave and come back on the same ticket. In my case I had to leave eat something as my kids felt hungry
This was a really fun museum! There were so many detailed and intricate displays to look at! Many included Teddy bears, but there were other things too - hats, dolls, carnival and fair scenes.... I highly recommend a visit to this museum is you're in Basel :)
The toy museum is a collection of old toys, puppets and teddy bears that is spread over 4 floors. One floor also shows a variety of extraordinary hats, some of them can even be tried in for a fun picture. The different items are arranged in various ways like in houses, on a car racing track and so on. What I would have liked is to read more about the items at the place they were displayed, because there were little guides available in the certain rooms, yet not for everyone and it would have been more comfortable the other way. Yet the experience was interesting to see since some of the toys already looked very old but still in good shape. It is a fun place to bring your kids too.
In the stuffed animal exhibition, I could have easily cried as it was like stepping directly into the eyes and imagination of my childhood. The whimsical window displays with Steiff animals deeply touch my normally cold exterior and bring a lot of joy to the city of Basel. Well done to the lovely team who has put this wonderful place together.
Not sure about the place. I came on my own half an hour before closing time and i was just by myself in the whole museum. ITS CREEEPYYYY!!! Maybe im not used to see so many toys but i just felt im in some horror movie. Wouldn’t take my child here :)
