Handy Brake National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1988. It is a large sanctuary spread across a vast area of 501 acres. The refuge houses ducks, waterfowl, waders, and many other water dependent species. This is an oasis for the wildlife species which is very well-maintained and governed by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Being engulfed in lush greenery, you feel closer to nature when you visit this place. You can take a leisurely stroll along the many pathways offered by the sanctuary and breathe in the fresh air. From the observation deck in the refuge, you can see the permanent waterbody whose water levels are manipulated to maintain the ecological system. The tranquil water make you feel calm and peaceful.
