Established in 1791, this beautiful French Creole house plantation is counted amongst the top tourist attractions in the city. The place got its name from the many documentations that coin the plantation as Mount Magnolia. Only a mile away from the downtown of Baton Rouge, it is home to a large house and several outbuildings, all depicting the beautiful architectural work of vernacular style that was quite prevalent in the nascent French era. The house is decked with three staying rooms alongside a formal dining room and two service rooms that are rectangular and has large hipped roofs. Not only as an oldest and extravagant relic but also a lovely refuge for the nature lovers, Magnolia mounds offers unparalleled views of the Mississippi River and surrounding. You will find large Oak trees and the vast expanse of agricultural lands on your visit here.
