The habitat is located inside the premises of the famous Louisiana State University and dedicated to University’s mascot- a live tiger named Mike the Tiger. It was established in the year 2005 on a lush landscape of about 15,000 sq. ft. The area incorporates a spread of the greenery merged with a large Oak tree, a beautiful waterfall and a warm flowing stream resulting in a stunning backdrop for visitors. Come to watch mike swimming and having a good time in his natural habitat. The Italianate tower nestled in the habitat is one of the major highlights that one must not miss. Lovers of architecture, nature and wildlife can explore and learn a lot in this place.

Mike The Tiger Habitat Reviews & Ratings

  • I do love visiting Mike, and it was a very busy day, the Sunday after a good win against an SEC rival. Mike was out and about, prowling and lazing in the shade. Lots of children running around trying to get a peek. Mike has a beautiful habitat, and lives better than most humans. I do wish LSU would get him a friend; it's gotta be lonely at times being the only tiger in there.

  • While Mike is hard to see sometimes (depending on where he's napping) it is a beautiful enclosed habitat that is better than all the other tiger exhibits at zoos that I've been to. There are informative plagues at each window with interesting tiger facts. You can tell that LSU loves their Mike!

  • Very nice habitat for Mike the tiger. Great information about the history, the care and how Mike is cared for by students and professionals. Impressive large area with pool area where Mike can roam freely.

  • Love being able to visit the tiger. The habitat and surrounding areas are always clean.

  • Mike is seriously living it up. The habitat they've provided for him is really awesome. It was a little difficult to find public parking.
