The Pentagon Barracks of East Baton Rouge Parish has a strong and long history. It has been won and lost by the varied countries- French, Spanish and British and beholds many stories of those times. At one time, it was even used as a military post where many famous personalities have visited. Although a lot of renovation and changes has been done in this barrack since its establishment, it was in the mid-18th century, in 1825, when the final barracks were built as a means to serve the southwestern United States. Initially, the place had five buildings arranged in a pentagon-shaped pattern for the boarding of soldiers. It is from there the place got its name. Also known as Old United States Barracks, the barracks lies close to the State Capitol Drive and is very much recommended for tourists. Ensure to come at least once in your Baton Rouge trip!
