St Joseph Cathedral is one of the oldest, most magnificent cathedrals in Baton Rouge. Established in 1853, the church is located in the downtown area of the city and frequented by a lot of visitors. It is also the mother church of the Diocese of Baton Rouge. Since its emergence, the church has seen and survived many phases and has been renovated multiple times, with the last renovation done in 1976. For visitors, the church offers a secluded destination to pray and visit. The architecture has been kept sublime and goes well with the spiritual vibe of the place. One can easily forget the hustle and bustle when they are here. The surroundings are equally lovely with a green garden backing it up. Simply walk around and relish the quietude as you do so. A visit to this place is a peaceful refuge for both tourists and folks alike.

St Joseph Cathedral Reviews & Ratings
It was a great mass . I am from Borger Texas and I have gone to mass there several times and I have always felt welcome. Great place to meet for mass
The church is beautiful, Fr. Paul a 40 year veteran Priest who gives awesome Homilies... I attend the 12:05 pm masses, which are daily M-F. Confession is M-F from 11:30 - 12, before mass.
This historic cathedral features German-designed stained glass and a magnificent crucifix which must be seen in person to truly appreciate!
Most wonderful Catholic church in baton rouge. Historical and beautiful.
I didn’t particularly care having the cross off center. The cathedra is in the center of the sanctuary. Who is supposed to be the center of our worship?
