Built in 1930, the Louisiana Old Governor’s Mansion is a very popular destination for travelers in Baton Rouge and shares a great similarity with the White House. The place was designed by James Hoban who duplicated the structure of White House for Huey P. Long, its first resident, and governor. Regardless, it is unquestionable that the mansion is spectacular to see and is considered to be a fine example of a Georgian mansion. On visiting the mansion, you will find two floors, a full basement and an attic with a roof full of open balustrades. To keep it's upright and still, the place is supported by 30-foot long 40 Corinthian columns adorned with beautiful carvings and ornate scrollwork. Being close to the heart of downtown makes it the perfect venue to host varied events and spend some quality moments during your journey. Packed with a lot of history, fine architecture and cultural values, the picturesque place with its rose garden makes it a must visit attraction in Baton Rouge, especially for those who like exploring and having fun!

Old Governor's Mansion Reviews & Ratings
We were unable to take the 1 hour tour, but the guide let us look in the first floor rooms. The ballroom has large mirrors at each end with 3 chandeliers in the room. In the middle of the room, looking at either mirror, the chandeliers seem to go on for ever! The guide was a true Southern gentleman, a year younger than the mansion.
This is an amazing place to visit!!! We did the online guided tour and took our time ... wonderful staff also!!
This was closed when we arrived but it was cool to see.
It kept very well a few of governors' bedroom, study room, livingroom & kitchen etc. with original furniture. The fee is $10.00 per person. There is a small parking lot behind the gover's mansion.
Had a really nice time at the Men's Wearhouse Grooms show.
