Located off the city of Mina, in Lebanon, the idyllic Palm Islands Nature Reserve is a photographer’s delight. Covering an area of 4.2 kilometers, this is a designated Specially Protected Area, in the Mediterranean. The islands are home to the endangered green turtles, nesting grounds for hundreds of migratory bird species, and natural habitat of the rare monk seals. The largest island is called the Palm Island but was also fondly known as the ‘Rabbit Island’, named after the number of rabbits reared here, during the time of the French Colonization. Overall, the beautiful nature reserve is the perfect place to observe natural beauty of the Mediterranean Sea and makes for a delightful visual treat!
