Morro Coast Audubon Society Sweet Springs Nature Preserve Reviews & Ratings

  • Sweet Springs Nature Preserve is a beautiful place to visit. Easy parking on the road. The path is a simple walk on a dirt path and boardwalk area. This is a quiet, peaceful place to learn about the flora and wildlife, and the importance of the wetlands. The visit is free, with a self-service donation can posted. This area is open dusk till dawn. Due to the bird habitat, dogs are not permitted. Go enjoy an hour walking through the lovely preserve.

  • Nice little tucked away place. Very peaceful. Saw a nice family of Calif Quail

  • Amazing somewhat hidden nature preserve! Well worth a brief stop to chill & gaze upon panorama s that include Morro Rock. Lots of birds & even some Monarch butterflies. Few tourists off season. No facilities, but a nice short walk & cool views. There is a stream on-site as well. It is right near "downtown" Baywood which has a Monday afternoon Farmer's Market & some eats. It is also near other beaches/parks [e.g. Pasadena Park or Elfin Park.] It is also on the way to the Golf course which has eats/bathrooms & close to the huge amazing Montaña de Oro State Park which you need to drive to. Of course it is not far from the center of Los Osos town, which also has some modest eats, gas, pit stops, & markets....and even a discount market [Grocery Outlet].

  • Today we didn't see many water birds, but we saw some here and there and a lizard here and there. A quale made an appearance and dissapeared into the brush. It is windy here, which makes for a chilly walk in the shade, but the bay view is worth it. An advisory, stay on the path, poison oak is everywhere and no pets allow. It isn't safe for them anyway. There is street parking, a clean portable potty.

  • Beautiful place to go for a nature hike. Lots of bird life to observe, marine life, and secluded. There is places to park all around the area. April, may, and June is some of the better months to go!!
