This was the last independent and family managed mustard producing mill of the city that is now transformed into a museum. It is a bit hidden in an inner courtyard and thus a little difficult to be found. This mill is known to have produced mustard and condiments in traditional techniques using stone grinders to get the perfect essence of the aromatic seeds. This used to be the main ingredient of many recipes passed on by the earlier generations.

The main attractions in here are:

  • The history of the production process with a nice display of the ancient machines.
  • A very good light and sound display telling you about how work used to be done at that time.

La Moutarderie Fallot, Beaune Reviews - Write a Review

  • I didn't visit the museum, but the shop alone is worth a visit if you love mustard. There a several types you can try, all excellent.

  • Good tour around a mustard factory, lots of interesting facts. Not great for small kids as the mustard can make your eyes water on the tour. You get a load of sample pots to take with you as well at the end!

  • Very detailed, we'll organised and very enjoyable. We highly recommend it as a nice activity to break up wine tasting. Very good value and the guide was exceptional at accommodating French and English.

  • Interesting museum for all ages. Well organized visit. Very reasonable price

  • Nice tour on the history of the mustard maker and a fun experience trying to make your own mustard. The only downside is that the tour is both in English and French so there were some aspects that were not communicated to us properly.
