The I.s. And Gertrude Sahli Nature Park sprawls over 90 acres of pristine land open from dawn till dusk all the year through. It features a number of walking trails, information center, pavilion, and natural ponds. Since its opening in 2012 behind the bustling shopping center Walmart, the park has been a scenic weekend getaway for outdoor adventure seekers. The pollination farm or Monarch Waystation is a greenhouse where the monarch caterpillars are reared in the green plantation before hatching into butterflies and getting tagged on their wings for tracking. Take a stroll along the Chestnut Trail to reach the I.s. And Gertrude Sahli Nature Park Pavilion surrounded by towering pines and ferns. Enjoy watching the Bluegills and Bullfrogs in the gurgling waters of the two ponds from the bridge or get into catch-and-release fishing. Don’t forget to get some souvenirs from the information center.

  • What a lovely park! I've lived near here for 30 years and am embarassed to say that today was my first visit. I was investigating the hiking trails for a group event later this month. I found the trails (woodland roads, really) to be very well maintained and quite wide. Very comfortable for hiking with our year-round tick concerns. The trails are interconnected in a network that allows you to hike a decent distance, even though the park is rather small. I suggest you download the map from the website or snap a pic of the large map in the parking lot before you head into the woods. Most trail intersections are marked with numbered posts that are easily found on the map, even if the trail signage is missing (which it is on some posts). You won't get lost - civilization is all around you! They also have a Monarch Butterfly facility, a delightful bench structure for a family or small group chat, a picnic pavilion and a couple ponds. I'm very impressed and look forward to many more visits.
