Tain Tan Gong Yuan, which you may know to be the “Temple of Heaven” was constructed in the 14th century by Yongle Emperor, who also laid the foundation of “The Forbidden City”. The temple compound occupies a space of about 2.73 square kilometers, and is composed of three main groups of constructions, which are “The Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests”, “The Imperial Vault of Heaven”, and “The Circular Mound Altar”; each of these have been established on varying philosophical grounds. After having toured around the temple, you can laze around the parks that surround the “Temple of Heaven,” and immerse yourself in solace and quietude.
