Ulster Museum, Belfast Reviews - Write a Review
The Ulster Museum is an amazing place to visit. All the exhibition zones are wonderful but especially at the moment the display of Weeping Poppies and The Game of Thrones tapestry. Could not bieve the length of it and the work involved. Would thoroughly recommend a visit. It is free but donations are welcome.
Game of Thrones Tapestry I was a big fan of the Bayeux Tapestry and when I heard about this even bigger tapestry I had to see it. And wow is it big, it just keep going, unlike the Bayeux you are able to get really close. So close you can see each and every individual stitch. I spoke to the embroiders who were stitching the detail for episode 1 - I believe they have used gold & silver threads. There is even a cool projector showing you what they are weaving that week! I’m not a big GOT fan but that didn't matter I couldn't get over the detail and the craftsmanship, the more time I took the more I spotted, they even allow you to take photos (that wasn't the case in Bayeux). I did see one funny guy who knew every scene and insisted showing his friend on his phone. I'm not sure how long it's going to be up for at the Ulster Museum but it's well worth a visit, what a great piece of art, one to go down in history I’d say. A big 10/10 for me
Great museum. No charge so accessible to all. Will visit again. Too much to see on one visit.
Great experience, so much to see and take in and all for FREE. nice to leave a donation though. At the moment the poppy display and Game of Thrones tapestry are BRILLIANT
