Belgrade’s first public park is a very picturesque place. It’s about 5km from the city centre, but well worth the detour. It’s got some classic jogging and cycling tracks. There’s an old (170 years) planatus tree here that’s become something of an icon; newlyweds love to be photographed under it (it’s almost a daily sight). Most of the park’s architecture is reminiscent of English Gardens – full of small meadows and flowery paths. In summer, you get carriage rides. There’s a small lake and a restaurant too.

Near the park is the Residence of Prince Milos. It’s a small museum that covers the Second Serbian uprising, which Miloš Obrenovi

led against the Turks.
