About Museum Of Belize, Belize City
A popular tourist attraction of the Fort George area, the Museum of Belize is where the erstwhile Belize jail used to be. Called “Her Majesty’s Prison” in its glory days, the museum has preserved one jail cell as a museum exhibit where in you can even see the graffiti drawn by the inmates of the jail cell.
Don’t be disappointed by its size; good things after all, come in small packages. The Museum of Belize is packed to capacity with interesting artifacts, the most notable one being the Mayan exhibits. A majority of their permanent exhibits are dominated by the Mayan period including Mayan jade, ceramic, stamps, bottles and coins. There’s also a section that is dedicated to the insects of Belize.

Museum Of Belize, Belize City Reviews
The museum is impressive. They currently are featuring art by locals. They have a good display on cultures of Belize. However, I would like to see more about Creole, Garifuna, Mestizos etc. They have an extensive display on Maya Indians.
This is the most amazing zoo! They have a great selection of animals, who all have wonderful habitats to live in. A must see in Belize
Interesting and informative museum about the history of Belize, half of which is dedicated to slavery times, with some cool mayan relics
Ok, good to spend two hours. The best exhibits were the ones about slavery. Quite moving.
Very informative! Friendly staff and warm tour. 😁
