The Belize Zoo exhibits over 175 animals, representing over 45 native species. It is home to many animals that are orphaned, rescued, born at the zoo, rehabilitated and donated from other zoological institutions. The uniqueness of this zoo is that the natural habitat of Belize is accessible through a gravel path leading to the forest. To inspire the visitors about conservation of animals, there are many events organized, such as National Tapir Day, the birthday celebration of the animals and birds, summer camps and so on. Close encounters with the Leopard, Jaguar, Tapir, Boa, Scarlett Macaw and Toucan is a great initiative by the zoo. Puma, Ocelot, Peccary, Monkey, Grison, Kinkajou are some of the mammals, while the Reptiles include American Crocodile, Boa, fer de lance, and the birds include pelican, owls, amazon, aracari, and curassow.

The admission tickets of The Belize Zoo are priced at 15 USD per foreign adult, 5 USD per foreign child, 7 Belizian dollars per Belizian adult, and 2 Belizian dollars per Belizian child. I am not sure if any free entrance is offered on Sundays. You may call on 501-822-8000 and inquire further.
