Located in Piazza Duomo in Belluno, the Rector’s Palace was commissioned to be constructed by the rector Maffeo Tiepolo in 1491. This is a two-storey complex whose construction work was repeatedly interrupted by the unrest that led to the war of Cambray. The construction work could be only materialized in 1536 during the government of Jerome Arimondo. The clock tower, as planned by Valerio from San Vittore, was built between 1536 and 1547. The lower gallery of this building houses the beautifully carved arches and columns and the busts of rectors from the fifteenth to the seventeenth century represented as equipped with their coats of arms.
