Among the eight hot water springs of Beppu, the Umi Jigoku with its cobalt blue water looks magical. The spring was created 300 years ago from the explosion of Mount Tsurumi and the temperature of the spring ranges around 98 degree Celsius which is cooled and is supplied at Ashi-Yu to let the visitors soak their feet. While entering Umi Jigoku, you will pass through the Japanese Garden featuring the emerald coloured pond where water lilies and the Victoria Amazonatas bloom with full grandeur. The park looks magnificent during early May till mid-November when the Victoria Amazonatas are in full bloom. There is a restaurant where you can taste the famous Jigoku pudding, dangojiru, Dumpling Soup, Chicken Tempura, Chanpon Noodles, Onsen Eggs and Toriten.
