  • This was a wonderful sight-seeing afternoon. Be prepared to walk, mostly (somewhat steep) uphill. The views are spectacular. There is a small admission fee for the church, but we felt like it was well worth it. They provide a printed guide in many languages - don’t forget to pick that up in the office when you pay. No photographs are allowed inside the church. You can try, but they will ask you to stop. And the aren’t kidding. We ate ice cream at the snack bar/cafe up top and it was a nice treat on a warm, sunny day. It would be smart to study-up on the area before going as there’s not much printed at the location about what you’re looking at, and if there is, it’s in Albanian. Some of the best pictures we took in Albania were at Berat Castle. It really is beautiful.

  • Berat castle is a landmark of the City of Berat. It is situated in dominant point of view of the above city. It is an attractive touristic area. A touristic guide is very completed to show you and explain in detail every story. Berat castle welcome a lot of visitors from around the world

  • Actually it is very nice place. There is a museum, which we didn't visit. We walk around and enjoy the architecture. There was a chapel, which looks really nice, but it was closed, so we couldn't get in. Also there was some abandoned parts of buildings, which wasn't repaired and we didn't see any information about them. Also one of them was dangerous, because of steep and narrow stairs without railing which ends in room full of water and rocks. It is in UNESCO, byť I think there is so much work and also potential to make it nice place.

  • An old fortified city filled with churches and mosques. Berat is a UNESCO heritage site, also called "the city of a thousand windows". You can sleep inside the fortified city or outside the walls but within walking distance. I slept outside the walls for photographic wise I found it more interesting.

  • Free and fantastic views. Not too hard to get to either. Dig the atmosphere because people really live in there. We actually drove up there, and it took us a bit to wrap around the town. I'm guessing that the walk up would be pretty with lots of winding old streets and the like. Definitely some tourists at the top, but it wasn't too crazy
