The Seven Mountains surround the city of Bergen and if the stories are to be believed, the views are to die for. One of the most accessible of these Seven Mountains is Mt. Floyen, regularly thronged by crowds eagerly awaiting breath-taking views of Bergen and the surrounding mountains.
The ride to Mt. Fløyen is just as exciting as the destination. A funicular train is an always an exciting prospect and you get to ride the funicular for eight minutes as it scales the mountain and takes you to a height 1050 feet above the sea level.

Floibanen, Bergen Reviews - Write a Review
Other than the long lines and fighting tourists who can’t handle lines, the train up to the mountains above Bergen from the harbor is awesome. The ride up is fairly short but impressive with a sharp ascent and views over the town as you go up. At the top is an incredible viewpoint directly above the city with views of the town and the water. It’s also a good starting point for a hike, bike ride, or just a walk back down to town. There are also cafes and facilities at the top. Definitely buy tickets online beforehand to avoid the long ticket lines.
Definitely recommend this on a sunny day. The views from the top are breathtaking. It costs 45 kr for one-way adult fare and 90 kr for round-trip. I recommend taking the ride up, enjoying the view, and walking back down. It is a lovely path, very picturesque and you get to see some waterfalls. We took the right path (there is a split at some point) and you are able to see the other side of Bergen. Up top you can also find some blueberries to pick and eat!
Exciting ride to the top. Very scenic view of the fjord and Bergen city. Must do in Bergen
Climbing up with the Floibanen is a must when you're in Bergen. To see the city between seven mountains. Very beautiful. We climbed up with the Floibanen, enjoyed the view, let the children played on the very neat playground, see some trolls, then walked down, back to city center.
Beautiful views! Definitely worth a five minute trip to the top.
