King’s Stairs Gardens were completed in 1982. The aim was to build a site as a part of the post-war regeneration idea. Extending the Southwark Park was part of this plan. Approval for this construction was received in 1947, but the completion of the entire project took a total of 35 years. The Garden includes a children’s play-area, long walkways surrounded by lawns and manicured bushes and shrubs. It also overlooks River Thames which is a blissful view. Enjoy a couple of hours here, strolling in the park and gazing at the boats passing by in the waters.
