Ware-bottom Church Battlefield is the site where a battle was fought between Union and Confederate during the American Civil War, on 20th May 1864. The site is in Colonial Heights, USA. The Confederates emerged victorious and after the battle started digging a set of defensive earthworks. These fortifications extend from the James River to the Appomattox River and are called as the Howlett line. On this site also exists one of the oldest church of Virginia, the Ware Bottom Church. It suffered heavy damages during the battle. Visit this 2-acre historical site and pay your respects to the valor of the soldiers.
